Orthopedic Massage

The certification I am working on for orthopedic massage is coming along very well. This technique falls in with neuromuscular and sports massage modalities. It uses a combination of swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, and myofascial therapies. It is great to see how well it can help with joint problems and helping people striving to maintain muscular and skeletal balance. It works nicely into sessions where people are not only coping with injuries and pain but also are wanting a nice relaxing massage.

My last seminar (second of three towards certification) was in November 2013 and was on the upper body. My next seminar will be a week long class in July 2014.

Managing the day

When dealing with heavy stress or physical activity during the day, try starting or concluding with a hot/warm bath in either Epsom salts (can be scented as you prefer) or Apple cider vinegar.

The bath in either product will help pull out the natural toxins that the muscle fibers emit during the day.

Helpful Information: Stretching

When you are dealing with pain or chronic stress, try some gentle stretches in the morning, the day, and before the end of the day.

Gentle stretches help our body to relax and get oxygen in. So remember to be gentle and to breathe while stretching.

Stretches performed during a massage are very helpful because they allow your body to relax during the stretch. You have probably noticed that stretching in general forces you to stiffen other muscles to hold and support you while you are stretching the group of focus. So stretches performed in a manner that allows you to completely relax during the stretch will obtain the maximum benifit.

News: JAN. 06 2012

Have been improving my deep tissue technique. What I am now using involves Deep Tissue/Sports Massage. Basically it is the application of stretching and a more effective use of pressure.
